Another bank heist in Inner Sunset

A bank robbery in the Inner Sunset district Monday afternoon was the second such heist in the lively neighborhood in just over a month, police said.

About 12:45 p.m., a man in his 50s reportedly walked up to a teller and demanded cash at the Citibank branch at the corner of Irving Street and Eighth Avenue. His hand was in his jacket pocket as if to imply that he had a gun, Officer Gordon Shyy said, but no weapon was seen.

The brave teller refused to hand over cash, police said, but the crook then reached over, grabbed an undisclosed amount of money from the drawer and fled. No arrest has been reported.

On April 19, the Wells Fargo bank on that same block was reportedly robbed by three gun-toting masked men. They demanded customers to drop to the floor before fleeing with an undisclosed amount of money.

It was not immediatley known if the heists were related. The suspect in Monday's heist was described as a black man wearing a black hat, black hoodie, brown pants, black shoes and sunglasses, Shyy said.
