Accident slows San Mateo Bridge traffic

Although traffic was flowing at a typical slow Monday morning pace, the commute into San Mateo County from the East Bay has been delayed this morning by an overturn accident with injuries on the westbound section of the San Mateo-Hayward Bridge.

According to www.511.org, the accident is causing significant delays along state Route 92. Traffic along the Dumbarton Bridge — another East-West connector often used when the San Mateo-Hayward Bridge is delayed — was flowing more smoothly as of 8 a.m.

There were also minor delays out of San Francisco on Interstate 80, as roadwork on part of the eastbound route between Fourth Street and the Bay Bridge has closed the left lane until approximately 2 p.m.
