23-year-old killed in Highway 1 crash identified as Visalia man

A 23-year-old man who was killed in a crash on state Highway 1 in San Mateo County on Saturday has been identified as Sanjeev Joshi of Visalia according to the San Mateo County Coroner’s Office.

The deadly crash occurred just south of the Tom Lantos Tunnels at Devil’s Slide around 3:25 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

Joshi was pronounced dead at the scene and Highway 1 was closed in both directions for about five hours, the CHP said.

Preliminary information indicates the crash only involved one vehicle, according to the CHP.

The cause remains under investigation by the CHP.Bay Area NewsPeninsula
