1 hospitalized as precaution after hazmat incident at Genentech

One person was taken to a hospital as a precaution after a small hazardous materials spill Wednesday morning at South San Francisco pharmaceutical company Genentech, city fire officials said.

Paramedics were called at 11:15 a.m. to assist an emergency team at Genentech and to transport the person to a hospital from the company offices at 1 DNA Way.

Fire officials said the spill was contained, no one appeared to be injured and there was no threat to public safety.

Fire officials would not say what spilled because it is a company product.
