Wikia Inc. unveils open source search project

San Mateo-based Wikia Inc.’s new open-source search platform is now open to the public in its first alpha release at www.wikia.com following a brief private testing period.

The Wikia Search project can handle both basic search queries and social networking activities. Any user can discuss and rank search results and write and edit mini articles and more.
