Sheila Jackson Lee wants more funding for Homeland Security's HR department

During today's hearing by the House Committee on Homeland Security, Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Texas, criticized the event, calling it an outrage that is “playing into Al Qaeda.” Instead, Lee suggested a hearing on a different topic entirely — increasing funding for Department of Homeland Security in order to improve their Human Resources Department.

“We would be better off if we would have a hearing speaking about the importance of human intelligence. Funding for the elements of the Department of Homeland Security that can work on human resources to be able to hear from individuals who do want to engage and help this country promote its values.”

No word from Lee on how individuals who intend to harm other Americans might be screened out, as would have been helpful in the case of mass murderer Nidal Hassan.
