Races to watch: Republicans lead for Wisc. governor

Yesterday’s Rasmussen poll has Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker, R, leading Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett in the race for governor, 48 to 41 percent. Walker won the GOP endorsement at convention. Mark Neumann, his primary opponent, has a narrow two-point lead over Barrett.

I alluded briefly to the importance of this race the other day because it has serious implications for redistricting. Democrats hold narrow majorities in both the state House and Senate, and both are considered in peril. If Republicans win all three, they will draw the Congressional Districts for the next five cycles.
