President Obama will hold a press conference at 11:30 am EST today at the White House. This will be Obama’s first press conference since March.
The President will likely face questions about the fast-approaching August 2 deadline to raise the debt ceiling and the ongoing budget talks. Congress has not passed a budget in 791 days and bipartisan negotiations are currently stalled. President Obama is scheduled to begin a new round of talks with Democratic leaders in the Senate this morning.
The President’s recent announcement that the US would begin withdrawing troops from Afghanistan will also be under scrutiny amidst news of a new attack on the Afghanistan’s capital earlier this morning that left 19 dead.
