Oakland bakeries to produce new whole grain bread

Bakeries in Oakland will be among those producing a new bread launched by Sara Lee Food & Beverage this week, the company announced.

Sara LeeSoft & Smooth Honey, a whole grain bread designed to provide the texture and flavor of softer white breads, debuted on store shelves on Thursday, Dec. 27.

Soft & Smooth made with Whole Grain White Bread, another bread in the same line, has become the best-selling loaf in the country since its launch in 2005, according to Sara Lee.
