NVIDIA, markets down

NVIDIA Corp. (NVDA) fell more than 8.4 percent Friday, the biggest change seen among local stocks tracked by the Examiner.

Intel Corp. (INTC) also fell more than 8.1 percent, while Safeway Inc. (SWY) rose 0.4 percent.

The markets were down sharply overall today, with the Dow Jones closing more than 1.9 percent down, the Nasdaq more than 3.7 percent down and the S&P 500 more than 2.4 percent down.

Companies in the news included San Jose-based Cadence Designs Systems Inc. (CDNS), which announced fourth quarter and fiscal year 2007 results.
