Howard Dean: We gotta be tougher; Bush would have passed the health care bill by now

Howard Dean offered MSNBC's Rachel Maddow some tough words for the Democrats when it became clear that Republican Scott Brown won the Massachusetts special election for the Senate.

“We gotta be tougher” he said, “George Bush would have had the health care bill done a long time ago and it would have been done through reconciliation and that would have been what we wanted. . . we are going to have to show boldness and toughness we are going to have to show leadership . . and leadership is not trying to be centrist and get everybody to work together, because that's not going to happen. . .”

Dean suggested that Democrats scrap the current health care bill and vote to extend Medicare to seniors at the age of 55.
