Facebook for BlackBerry Smartphones launched in SF

Research in Motion Inc. (RIMM) launched Facebook for BlackBerry Smartphones at an event in San Francisco Wednesday, allowing mobile access to the popular social networking site.

The announcement was made at the CTIA Wireless IT & Entertainment show in The City. T-Mobile USA will be the first carrier to offer the free software download to its customers.

Facebook is based in Palo Alto.
