Con-Way Inc. changes name of truckload operating unit

San Mateo-based Con-Way Inc. (CNW), the nation’s largest regional trucking firm, has changed the name of its truckload operating unit from Contract Freighters Inc. to Con-Way Truckload, the company announced Thursday.

Con-Way completed the $750 million acquisition of the privately held truckload carrier in August.

The new business unit includes more than 2,800 tractors, 8,000 trailers and 3,500 employees, and is expected to bring in about $500 million in annual revenues.
