“Living XL,” an online and print catalog launched in May by Casual Male Retail Group, hopes to tap into the market for specialty products that make life easier for the growing population of obese men and women. The company also operates Casual Male XL, formerly known as Casual Male Big & Tall. The name was changed to avoid any euphemism for fat, company officials said.

PORK CRISIS

Increases of more than 43 percent in a year in pork prices have caused a political crisis in China, where pork is the meat of choice. The issue has played up gaps between the rich and poor and raised fears about inflation, a cause of past political unrest in the country. Communist Party leaders hope to keep citizens happy ahead of next year’s Beijing Olympics.
