Business briefs: Gregory Reyes' trial

Gregory Reyes, the former Brocade Communications Inc. (BRCD) CEO went on trial in federal court in San Francisco on Monday on charges of securities fraud and conspiracy. He is alleged to have misled investors by backdating stock option grants, altering company documents and causing the San Jose-based Brocade, a network equipment maker, to report false financial results.

WENDY’S INTERNATIONAL INC.

Wendy’s International Inc. (WEN), the nation’s third largest hamburger chain, is exploring a possible sale of the company. The company warned that profits for the year would fall short of Wall Street expectations. A sale would cap a whirlwind year for the company, which has spun off its Tim Hortons chain, dumped its money-losing Baja Fresh Mexican Grill and laid off employees.
