Business briefs: Explicit labeling forVodka

Vodka not made from grain or potatoes must carry explicit labeling that separates it from the more traditional spirit, the European Parliament decided Tuesday. Parliamentarians from traditional vodka producing countries, such as Finland, Poland or Sweden, had pushed for stronger rules that banned the use of vodka labels on bottles for liquor made from sugar beet or fruits.

Yahoo Inc. (YHOO) thinks it’s back on the right track now that co-founder Jerry Yang has replaced Terry Semel as chief executive, but analysts and investors are wondering if the shake-up is a prelude to more radical measures, including a possible sale or breakup. Although he once ran Yahoo in its early days, Yang has not been the top executive since the company went public in 1996.
