Cisco, the networking equipment maker, is snapping up privately held Navini Networks Inc. for $330 million, extending Cisco Systems Inc.’s (CSCO) acquisition streak and providing the latest validation for the new wireless network technology called WiMax. Unlike Wi-Fi networks, which typically have a range of just a few hundred yards, WiMax networks can extend for miles.
The Booksmith
Business partners Praveen Madan and Christin Evans said Tuesday that they have completed their acquisition of the 31-year-old independent bookstore located in San Francisco’s Haight Ashbury neighborhood. Madan and Evans bought the Booksmith from owner Gary Frank. They plan to make over business model to “create a better literary experience for readers and authors.”
