An egregious earmark, and no feeling of despair

Each Friday, Rep. Jeff Flake, R-Ariz., sends out an “egregious earmark of the week” accompanied by a terrible pun. It's usually an exercise in despair to read these, since legislators remain shameless no matter how much publicity these parochial projects get.

This week's dispatch, though, might be the most hopeful one I've ever seen:

This week’s egregious earmark: $150,000 for the restoration of South Orange Village Hall in New Jersey.

“Orange you glad Republicans will ban pork projects like this next year?” said Flake.
