Scoop: Middle-aged model breaks into SI swimsuit issue

Stop the presses: A woman over 50 and some women over 105 pounds will be pictured in the 2016 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition.

OK, this admittedly is an ad for an ad, but it’s somehow notable. Nicola Griffin, 56, is making history by appearing in a bikini in an ad for a bathing suit company.

E! Online reports that Swimsuits for All has three curvy (i.e., regular-sized) women in its “Swim Sexy” campaign: Griffin (the oldest woman to be modeling in the special edition since its 1964 debut), British Ghanaian model Philomena Kwao, and supermodel Ashley Graham, 28.

All wear gold bikinis in the photos, which were shot by Russell James.

“As an older woman, I feel empowered and sexy in my bikini,” Griffin told E! Who are we to argue?

The voluptuous Graham is breaking records as well. This year, she gets to be an actual Sports Illustrated swimsuit model. On Tuesday, the magazine announced that she’ll be one of five rookies in the spread, marking first time a plus-size woman has been in its pages outside of an ad.

Last year, Graham and plus-size Robyn Lawley were in ads in the special issue. It was the first time the magazine included large models.

Dante Soiu apparently is just looking for an answer from Gwyneth Paltrow.

The Ohio guy charged with stalking the actress testified Wednesday in Los Angeles that he wanted his dozens of messages to show her unconditional love and friendship and that he had no animosity toward her over an earlier, similar case, which sent him to a mental institution.

Attorney Wendy Segall questioned why Paltrow would want to marry him after he had sent her so many lewd messages and she had to testify against him, the Associated Press reports.

“I was trying to show I had changed and I had become a different person,” Soiu said. “I wanted to show a new face towards her.”

Soiu said he didn’t want to scare the actress, but was intent on her responding: “I wanted her to say flat out, ‘I don’t want to marry you,’” he said. “That way I would have a definite response from her.”

Recording Industry Association of America CEO Cary Sherman gave Rihanna two plaques in honor of her being the first and only artist to surpass 100 million song certifications (the amount represents numbers of sales and downloads).
