Scoop: Leslie Jones’ tweets earn her NBC Olympics gig

Rolling Stone decreed comedian Leslie Jones to be America’s best Olympics commentator, and it appears the higher-ups at NBC have agreed.

The “Ghostbusters” star’s fun and pithy tweets about the games caught the attention of Jim Bell, executive producer of the NBC Olympics coverage, who invited her to head down to Rio and cover the action for the network.

She officially accepted, tweeting: “Ok packing I’m in the middle of watching Olympics so I might miss some stuff!!”

Her remarks indeed have been fun and inspirational, from “Yep we got us a medal Ginny Thrasher shooting that rifle!” to marveling at U.S. swimmer Katie Ledecky, who won gold in the women’s 400-meter freestyle race Sunday: “Beast!!! Broke her own world record!!”

Speaking about U.S. women’s gymnastics greats Simone Biles and Gabby Douglas, she tweeted: “Got to say I’m so proud there is two black girls in the crew to rep for USA!!”

And it’s really hard to resist her patriotism and good spirit. Posting a colorful photo of herself wrapped in a flag, she tweeted, “Yep I love the Olympics it’s the only time all countries come together to compete!”

ROGEN, HEIGL OK

The feud between “Knocked Up” stars Seth Rogen and Katherine Heigl, if there ever was one, apparently is over.

Rogen, recently on Andy Cohen’s show “Watch What Happens Live” said, “No I was never mad. … Honestly it was so long ago and I’ve damaged my brain so badly in the few last years I have a hard time recalling what it’s about or who was supposed to be mad at who? I have no bad feelings towards her at all. Honestly.”

The dust-up seemingly began after Heigl, in print, referred to “Knocked Up” (the movie that, along with “Grey’s Anatomy,” made her a superstar) as “a little sexist” and later on Howard Stern’s show, commented that Rogen and producer Evan Goldberg were cool with her once when she ran into them.

Never mind.
