Scoop: Hulk Hogan wins $25 million more in sex tape suit

Hulk Hogan got $25 million in punitive damages in his sex tape lawsuit, bringing his total haul to $140 million, TMZ reports.

On Monday, a Florida jury gave the famed wrestler the punitive award, breaking down the dollar amounts: Gawker Media must pay $15 million, site owner Nick Denton has to pay $10 million, and A.J. Daulerio, the editor who posted the tape, must pay $100,000.

On Friday, the jury awarded Hulk $115 million for actual damages. Hogan sued Gawker after it posted a video of him having sex with his then-best friend’s wife. Hogan said he didn’t know he was being taped.

Gawker officials said they are confident the verdict will be overturned on appeal. The site says it has a right to post the tape because it was newsworthy and protected by the First Amendment.

Gawker also believes the judge erred by not allowing important evidence, in the trial, particularly testimony of Bubba Clem, who claims Hulk knew he was making a sex tape.

GOIN’ BACK TO THE FUTURE

Michael J. Fox, Lea Thompson and Christopher Lloyd reminisced about the 30-year-old “Back to the Future” franchise at the inaugural Silicon Valley Comic Con a fun session in San Jose on Saturday, film writer Jeff Anderson reports.

Fox described the experience as exhausting, working on the movie and TV’s “Family Ties” at the same time: “I had an array of surprised and excited faces that I made,” he said to a packed house, “like ‘awestruck No. 32.’ I didn’t realize that there was genius around me.”

Some things in “Back to the Future Part II” even happened, Fox said he owns a pair of automatic lace-up shoes, adding, “They come in handy for a person with Parkinson’s.”

In dealing with having Parkinson’s, Fox said, “I just live my life. If there’s something that becomes progressively harder to do, I just take note of it, and try to find a way around it … The first thing I do when I wake up in the morning is I look in the mirror and say, ‘What the hell are you smiling at?’”
