Scoop: Golden Globe nominees properly honored and grateful

Most of the creative folks nominated for Golden Globe Awards on Thursday, unsurprisingly, were “honored,” “grateful” and “thankful” to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for the recognition, and are looking forward to the big ceremony Jan. 10 in Los Angeles when winners will be announced.

In the meantime, here’s what some of the singled-out artists are saying:

Steve Carell (actor, “The Big Short”): “… Now I guess that I have to find a tux, lose weight, and get Botox.”

Paul Dano (supporting actor, “Love & Mercy”): “WOW! Amazing. Touched. Humbled. Thrilled. One of the great honors and pleasures of my life to know Brian Wilson. He has made me and so many others SMILE with his music and spirit.”

Brian Wilson (song, “Love & Mercy”): “ … a huge hug to Paul Dano for his nomination this great morning! I’m now going back to bed for some sweet, sweet dreams.”

Eddie Redmayne: (actor, “The Danish Girl”): Having the opportunity to help tell Lili and Gerda’s story has been a great privilege for me, and I am hugely grateful for the guidance, generosity and insight given to me by the transgender community.

Lily Tomlin (actor, “Grandma,” “Grace and Frankie”): “I feel elated and on top of the world! Right now, I feel too young for the parts I am playing.”

Rachel Bloom (actor, “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend): “I woke up my husband and then we hugged and cuddled and then I danced. I did dance around a lot.”

Lee Daniels (TV series, “Empire”): To everyone tuning in week after week, embracing our stories and characters, I thank you. And a very special thanks to my partner in crime Danny Strong and the team that made this happen – cast, crew, and everyone at Fox. And Taraji, Yes God! Thank you for breathing life into Cookie.”

Paul Feig (musical or comedy film, “Spy”): “I can’t thank the HFPA enough for recognizing funny movies. We are absolutely thrilled to have our international comedy ‘Spy’ and its amazing star Melissa McCarthy nominated. We’d also like to request four extra bottles of wine at our table that night. Woo hoo!!!”

Charles Randolph (screenplay, “The Big Short”): “Rarely in life do you go from dead asleep to jumping up and down in seconds. It’s like Christmas when you’re 10.”

Lady Gaga (actor, “American Horror Story”): “I apologize to my neighbors I’m still screaming in my apt in NY!”

Daniel Pemberton (score, “Steve Jobs“): “That is proper bonkers!”

Jamie Lee Curtis (actor, “Scream Queens”): “As I am recovering from foot surgery, you could call this morning the agony and the ecstasy.”
