David Beckham’s latest honor: People’s 30th Sexiest Man Alive.

Um, People … what took you so long? A time machine video on People’s website titled “Watch Sexiest Man Alive David Beckham Get Sexier By the Second” starts way back in 1997. Clearly the British soccer superstar already should have earned the honor — perhaps in 2013, the year of Adam Levine?

Rounding the 2015 top 10 are: 2) Justin Timberlake; 3) Reid Scott (“Veep”)’ 4) Idris Elba; 5) Sam Heughan (“Outlander”); 6) Justin Theroux (Jennifer Aniston’s husband); 7) Charlie Hunnam (“Sons of Anarchy”); 8) Jussie Smollett (“Empire”); 9) Jake Gyllenhaal’ and 10) Nick Jonas.

“It’s a huge honor,” Beckham, 40, told the magazine upon hearing the news. “And I’m very pleased to accept.”

Fashionista wife Victoria Beckham simply congratulated him (“I would hope that she feels this way about me all the time anyway!” he told People) and his 16-year-old son Brooklyn chimed in: “Are you sure it’s not me that’s meant to be there today?”

Jimmy Kimmel announced the winner on his show Tuesday, during which a fairly lame studio audience took forever to uncover his identity after asking questions like: Has Taylor Swift made a song about you? Were you in a boy band? (and guessed Nick Carter).

Once revealed via video, Beckham cutely told the audience, “it’s the best moment of my career. I can’t believe it!”

Beckham takes the spot from 2014’s Chris Hemsworth, and joins a list including Mel Gibson (the first honoree), Bradley Cooper, Matt Damon, Denzel Washington and two-time winners George Clooney, Richard Gere, Brad Pitt and Johnny Depp.

CHARLIE SHEEN UPDATE

Hollywood Access reports that big-time civil rights attorney Gloria Allred is meeting with women who claim they were Charlie Sheen’s sex partners and are considering suing him, in the wake of his announcement that he is HIV-positive. Allred also is currently representing a bunch of women accusing Bill Cosby of molesting them.

Meanwhile, dad Martin Sheen, speaking publicly in Florida, said his son had been working up to the announcement for months with his family’s encouragement. The elder Sheen said that as he watched his son reveal “his deepest, darkest secret,” he “couldn’t believe the level of courage” he was witnessing, the Associated Press reports.
