What’s really going on with Pippa and Harry?

For those of you who predicted that the next royal wedding would be Prince Harry and Pippa Middleton’s … well, we’re sorry to burst your bubble. Though “Her Royal Hotness” (who’s not technically a royal, by the by) recently split with beau Alex Loudon, it wasn’t because the prince was waiting in the wings.

Granted, they do reportedly enjoy each other’s company. “During the wedding planning, Pippa and Harry met up several times to coordinate plans for the evening reception,” an insider told Us magazine. “They always got along well, and Pippa enjoys Harry’s sense of humor — she thinks he is funny, laughing at his silly jokes.”

That said, the source adds that these days, “while they are close in the sense that they are brother- and sister-in-law, they’re not hanging out like friends.”

And it’s unlikely they’ll become anything more, since Pippa is a pal of Harry’s on-off girlfriend, Chelsy Davy.

“Pippa is fairly chummy with Chelsy,” a pal of Princess Catherine’s sister pointed out. “So it would be a bit awkward if anything was going on with Harry.”

However, the gossip on that score may have been a factor in Pippa’s split with Alex. “They found the public’s interest in their relationship unnerving,” said the source.

Will the socialite reconnect with her ex? “Pippa and Alex agreed to meet up in a few months’ time to see how they are both doing,” the source shared. “Friends are hoping for a reunion, but I don’t think it will happen.”

Considering that the entire world seems to have developed a crush on her, we can’t blame Pippa for wanting to see who else is out there!

Penn Pal

Does Sean Penn already have a new lady friend … or has he just found a new partner to help with his humanitarian work? The actor was recently spotted dining with gorgeous actress Garcelle Beauvais, but it’s unclear whether they have a romantic connection.

The Oscar winner, who split from younger woman Scarlett Johansson last month, reportedly showed up at L.A.’s Sunset Tower Hotel and sat at the bar before the “Franklin & Bash” actress joined him.

“When she arrived, they moved to the front corner table, which put them on display,” a source told E! Online. “They sat inside for a while and even ordered food.” The pair then moved outside.

It’s worth noting that Garcelle was born in Haiti and, like Sean, is involved in humanitarian work there. So … you think this was purely a do-gooder get-together?

Crystal Clear

After announcing on Twitter that she called off her engagement to Hugh Hefner, Crystal Harris gave an exclusive interview to “ET” explaining why she let such an eligible — albeit elderly — bachelor go.

“It happened so fast,” Crystal recalled of the engagement. “Hef asked me to marry him in front of three cameras and a photographer. I thought it was something I wanted.”

The aspiring singer insisted she “wouldn’t trade [her time with Hef] for the world,” but “needed to be true to [her]self.”

The kicker is: Her tweet about the split included the line “I hope the media will give each of us the privacy we deserve during this time.” Wonder how many more interviews she’s going to do?

Rainfall exceeded 10 inches in parts of the Bay Area

On Sunday, California bore the brunt of what meteorologists referred to as a bomb cyclone and an atmospheric river, a convergence of storms that brought more than half a foot of rain to parts of the Bay Area, along with high winds, concerns about flash floods and the potential for heavy snow in the Sierra Nevada. Much of the Bay Area was under a flash flood watch on Sunday, with the National Weather Service warning of the potential for mudslides across the region. (NOAA via The New York Times)
