Good news and bad news on the “Fifty Shades of Grey” front:

First, a copy of the upcoming sequel, “Grey,” was stolen from the publisher in England this week. Now the bad news: Writer E.L. James’ next installment in the “Fifty Shades” series, aka “S&M Erotica for Dummies,” is still coming out next week.

“We can confirm that the Kent police are investigating the theft of a finished copy of E.L. James’ new book,” a spokeswoman for Random House told People magazine Wednesday.

The county of Kent has obviously put its greatest minds on the case, with one police officer telling People that Monday’s theft might have occurred “in a warehouse, or traveling to a warehouse or from a warehouse.”

“Grey” retells the events of the original “Fifty Shades of Grey” novel — which started off as “Twilight” fan fiction before becoming an international best-seller with a hit movie adaptation —from the perspective of crabby dungeon master Christian Grey, who draws young reporter Anastasia Steele into his world of kinky sex.

Random House contacted Kent’s finest amid worries that the book, whose last known whereabouts may or may not have involved a warehouse, might leak online before its release June 18.

However, James has already leaked one snippet of dialogue from the steamy sequel, which the British author promises will shed light on Grey’s “complex character,” to her Instagram account:

“Nice?”

Nice.”

NICE.”
