Scoop: Lindsay not dating Samantha, dad says

After a giggling Lindsay Lohan revealed on a radio show that she and Samatha Ronson have been going out “a really long time,” most people assumed she was confirming an open secret. But, unsurprisingly, her media-hungry estranged father, Michael Lohan, felt the need to insist she was “tricked” into making the statement.

“They kind of asked her if she was dating [Samantha], and Lindsay eluded that question. Then [the radio host] led into another one and kind of tricked her into saying ‘a long time,’” Michael maintained to E!

As for Lindsay, she just recently reacted to her father’s slams of Sam (he called her “dark, hideous and a disgusting representation of humanity” to X17), with a statement to Page Six: “My father obviously needs to be on medication to control his moods. He is out of line and his words show how much anger he has, and it’s dangerous and scary. … This is yet another reason why we aren’t speaking.”

Lindsay added, “I care for [Samantha] very much and she’s a wonderful girl. She loves me, as I do her.”

Who needs family therapy when you’ve got the media?

Miracle Survival

How did Travis Barker and Adam “DJ AM” Goldstein make their miraculous escape from a fiery plane crash that killed four people?

“[Travis and Adam] told me that they slid down the wing on the right side of the plane,” a local police lieutenant, a responder at the South Carolina tragedy scene, relayed to People. “They said they were on fire, and that they tackled each other and put each other out.”

“When I got there they were on the side of the road,” he adds. “They were pacing and in shock. Travis was very shaken up.”

A pal of the former Blink-182 rocker summed it up to the AP: “If you make it out of a crash of that magnitude, somebody’s looking out for you.”

Yay, Clay!

So how did his rabid fan base of “Claymates” react to Clay Aiken coming out as a gay man? The singer and new dad declared on his Web site that he was rendered “speechless” by their outpouring of support.

“I’m so proud to know and love all of you,” Clay gushed. “My family is so much larger than [son] Parker, [baby-mama] Jaymes, mom, [brother] Brett, etc. It extends to each of you.”

Gay rights groups praised Clay’s courage, while another celeb who came out on the cover of People, Lance Bass, told OK! that the “Spamalot” star’s openness is “good for the world.”

Of course, amid the wave of warm and fuzzy sentiment, we could rely on one person to bring the caustic comments: Simon Cowell.

“It’s like being told Santa Claus isn’t real,” the “American Idol” judge deadpanned to “Extra” upon hearing Clay had come out.

On a (slightly) more serious note, Simon added, “I don’t think anyone cares. Let’s face it. It’s 2008. You know? Who cares?”

Well, apparently someone does — they don’t just give you the cover of People for nothing.

Baby Bathwater

While Nicole Kidman was expecting infant daughter Sunday Rose, her barely-there baby bump puzzled some onlookers. But the actress has her own theory about why she didn’t start showing until the end of her pregnancy.

“I’m so lucky I’m so tall, so I carried small,” the Oscar winner explained to the Australian Women’s Weekly.

As for how she conceived, the 41-year-old wife of fellow Aussie Keith Urban has a rather mystical theory: She says bathing in the waters of the Oz outback, where she was shooting the (aptly titled) upcoming film “Australia,” did the trick.

“I never thought that I would get pregnant and give birth to a child, but it happened on this movie,” Nic revealed. “Seven babies were conceived out of this film. … There is something up there in the Kununurra water because we all went swimming in the waterfalls, so we can call it the fertility waters now.”

We’re happy for Nicole, but we’re not sure she has a strong grasp of medical science.
