Scoop: Katy Perry, Russell Brand hook up

It looks like the wish Russell Brand expressed on live TV in front of millions has come true. The British funnyman declared while hosting MTV’s Video Music Awards last month that he’d like to hook up with performer Katy Perry. Fast-forward to Saturday morning, when the “I Kissed a Girl” singer emerged from his London pad after a Friday night date.

The new couple sparked speculation of a romance when they were both on holiday in Thailand together last week.

“Katy stayed over at Russell’s after their week in Thailand,” a pal told Britain’s Daily Star. “And I think it’s fair to say they had an all-action night. They can’t keep their eyes, or their hands, off each other.”

Although the “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” star has a notorious rep as a player, evidently he might be looking to get serious this time.

“They’ve got a similar sense of humor and the same crazy outlooks on life,” the friend says. “They’ve been laughing and joking all week and he fancies the pants off her.” So to speak.

Office Dating?

We never thought of David Letterman as a ladies’ man. Did anyone? But in the wake of the thwarted blackmail plot that forced him to admit to affairs with staffers, more details about the late-night lothario’s love life are emerging — such as a report that he allegedly used a private office at his TV show’s studio as a love nest.

“It’s off limits to pretty much everybody,” a source close to his “Late Show” told the New York Post. Dave is said to use the space, which is reportedly fitted with a fold-out couch and a kitchen, “at all hours.”

A rep denied that anything unbusinesslike takes place at the office, and another Dave source said the veteran host simply crashes there after his overnight commute to NYC at the start of the work week.

We sure would love to know what Dave’s wife is saying to him behind closed doors right about now.

Penelope: Engaged?

Even though they haven’t officially discussed their relationship status, Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem are obviously more than just friends. A lot more, according to the New York Daily News, which reports they have announced their engagement.

“They’re telling friends they will get married,” a friend who allegedly heard the news straight from one of the pair told the paper.

But they insist it’s not going to be a shotgun wedding. Despite a recent sighting of the happy couple exiting an OB/GYN clinic together, “they say the pregnancy stories aren’t true,” says another friend (described as “skeptical”).

What’s all the secrecy about? If these two are getting married and starting a family, just come out and tell us already!

Bitter Tweet?

Is Hailey Glassman ready to “move on” from Jon Gosselin? The suddenly in-the-spotlight girlfriend of the reality star Tweeted on Thursday, “Its time 2 move on.”

“This drama has taken over my life, never mind the entire like world,” she added. “So beyond stressful. Like living in a state of paranoia!”

The next day, she declared, “No matter what I will always be there for Jon. Whether we are together or just friends, he will always have my family and my support.”

But a Jon rep released a statement saying, “That is Hailey telling the press it’s time for the press to move on and leave us alone. Not her to move on from her relationship. It’s not about her romantic relationship. They are still very much together!”

Uh, maybe the press would leave you two alone if you didn’t have a rep release a statement  every 15 minutes.
