Even though critics heartily panned the new “Fuller House” — the Washington Post’s Hank Stuever called it “another one of TV’s underwhelming acts of resurrection” and Vulture’s Margaret Lyons described the first four minutes of the show as “the most excruciating four TV minutes ever broadcast: shrill, garish, unfunny and further poisoned by the live audience’s baffling apparent appetite to hear the catchphrases of the show repeated now” – it’s already been renewed for a second season.
On Wednesday, Netflix announced that the “Full House” sequel, which premiered Feb. 26, will return on the streaming platform, with Candace Cameron Bure, Andrea Barber and Jodie Sweetin, and cameos from “Full House” cast members Bob Saget, John Stamos, Lori Loughlin, Scott Weinger and Dave Coulier. (Note: The Olsen twins were too cool and smart to return.)
The date for the upcoming season’s premiere was not revealed, though a tweet offered, “coming soon to Netflix.”
In the show, Cameron Bure’s D.J. Tanner-Fuller is a widowed mom of three boys who moves back to her cool vintage Laurel Heights home (where nothing, including the bad jokes, has changed in two decades) and enlists younger sister Stephanie (Sweetin) and best friend Kimmy Gibbler (Barber) to help raise the family.
Time to hit Twitter to weigh in about whether Mary-Kate and Ashley will come back to the fold.
