Scoop: Alfred Hitchcock Holocaust doc coming in 2015

It’s not well-known, but Alfred Hitchcock had his hand in a documentary about the Holocaust.

The auteur was reportedly so traumatized when he saw footage of the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp in 1945, he stayed away from working at his studio for a week.

Nevertheless, he lent his expertise to putting footage together into a film, which was unearthed in the 1980s and is now being restored by the Imperial War Museum in London. It is slated to be shown on British television in 2015.

Commenting that full digital restoration is nearly complete, Toby Haggith, senior curator of museum, told the Independent the yet-to-be-titled film is “both terrible and brilliant” at the same time.

Film lovers will be fascinated to see how a master of horror took on something so monumentally horrible in real life.
