Although producers haven’t approached her — yet — Roseanne Barr says she “would love the chance” to replace departing “View” co-host Rosie O’Donnell. “I think I would do a real good job,” the outspoken comedian opined in a radio interview Monday, adding that she would “stir up some real good controversy.” Well, duh.
Katie Holmes flirts on set, sources say
When Katie Holmes passed up the “Batman Begins” sequel for the female buddy comedy “Mad Money,” gossips speculated that hubby Tom Cruise might have steered her toward a romance-free role. But according to a new story in Life & Style, his bride may have found an on-set crush anyway.
The tabloid claims Katie has hit it off with co-star Adam Rothenberg in a big way. “There’s definitely been some off-camera flirting,” a source on the production reportedly claimed. “One day, Katie was touching Adam’s arm while they were talking, like girls do when they like somebody.”
Another time, the source adds, “they shot a scene in which Adam wrapped his arms around Katie’s waist, then the two of them had an intimate discussion. They lingered after the director said ‘cut,’ and it got everyone talking.”
But msnbc.com reports that Tom’s rep dismisses the tale, saying the “War of the Worlds” star “is very confident in his relationship with Katie and supportive of her time working on the set.”
The moment Britney Spears fans have been waiting for finally arrived Tuesday night, as the pop princess reclaimed the stage after a long absence — but her surprise performance was over all too quickly.
The Internet rumor mill had instantly cranked into overdrive when word of a Britney comeback concert leaked. By the time the diva, billed as “the M+Ms,” arrived at San Diego’s House of Blues, thousands of fans swarmed the venue.
But the show only spanned 15 minutes and four songs (including “Toxic” and “Baby One More Time” but no new material), leaving some of the 1,000 audience members — who had paid as much as $125 a ticket — feeling cheated. “It looked like she lip-synched her way through the whole thing,” one attendee groused to the Associated Press.
We’re just happy Britney is back in action. As long as our girl is in the spotlight and baring her midriff, all’s well with the world.
One of Hollywood’s most bitter divorce battles is getting even more acrimonious. David Hasselhoff’s estranged wife, Pamela Bach, has retained a new lawyer, Debra Opri — yep, the same one who until recently represented Larry Birkhead — and she has made some very disturbing allegations against her ex.
Web site TMZ.com reports that, outside an L.A. courthouse where she and Opri were to attend a hearing Monday, Pamela declared of her marriage to the “Baywatch” star, “There is emotional abuse, verbal abuse, and if I didn’t have a restraining order, there would be physical abuse.”
Of her new lawyer, Pamela asserted, “Debra is a winner, and I’m sick of being abused.”
A rep for the actor counters, “Unfortunately, [David’s] ex-wife continues to use the press … as a tool to present herself as a victim. She has had no less than nine sets of attorneys, who have all let her go due to the inconsistency of her behavior.”
For many stars struggling with addictions, the “anonymous” part of the recovery process is impossible to maintain (ahem, Lindsay Lohan). But unlike certain high-profile patients at Malibu’s Promises (ahem, Britney), Selma Blair was allegedly able to complete a stay at the treatment center on the downlow.
According to reports, the “Legally Blonde” actress began a downward spiral into drug addiction after her marriage to Ahmet Zappa ended late last year. But in March, “Selma finally admitted to herself that she had a problem and made up her mind to take care of it,” a source reportedly told the National Enquirer.
“She embraced what she learned at Promises and distinguished herself as a model patient,” another source told the tabloid. “She’s anxious to get back to work and pursue a healthy and drug-free lifestyle.”
Her rep hadn’t commented on the story as of press time. But if it’s true, mad props to Selma for dealing with her demons — and protecting her privacy to boot.

“They just decided, on absolutely nothing to go on, that they were just going to make up one way or another what I was doing. I guess they got the idea that I wasn’t going to complete the series because I actually took some time to think about it. The press are a bit funny like that.”
