Rihanna splits with baseball-player beau

Rihanna is single again. Despite buzz that an engagement was imminent, the R&B singer has reportedly split up with boyfriend Matt Kemp. She had been dating the Los Angeles Dodgers player for about a year.

“It happened over the last few weeks,” a source told Us magazine. “She basically was just over it.”

A source told People magazine that the faux redhead “considers herself single” and is evidently, er, ready to mingle.

“She never has a problem finding guys,” the source said. “And she flirts with lots.”

Christmas Getaway

So maybe there is something to those rumors that Rachel Weisz and Daniel Craig are more than friends.

Though the James Bond actor’s name surfaced when the actress split from longtime fiance Darren Aronofsky a month ago, the pair, who play spouses in the upcoming “Dream House,” insisted they were just buddies. However, the U.K.’s News of the World reported that they spent the Christmas holiday together.

The paper snapped photos of the pair walking hand in hand and picking up groceries, apparently not concerned about coming off as a couple.

Holiday Treats

While we were sharing the joys of the holidays with our families, some stars were celebrating joyful tidings of their own. In case you missed any of the happy news out of Hollywood, we are here for you.

Holiday engagements are as common in Hollywood as anywhere else. In a rare statement on her personal life, Natalie Portman announced that she is engaged to dancer and “Black Swan” choreographer Benjamin Millepied and they are expecting a child.

Meanwhile, octogenarian and former avowed bachelor Hugh Hefner announced his engagement to Crystal Harris. “When I gave Crystal the ring, she burst into tears,” Hef tweeted. “This is the happiest Christmas weekend in memory.” (Somewhere, Holly Madison is quietly fuming.)

And less surprisingly, Reese Witherspoon confirmed her widely anticipated engagement to agent Jim Toth. Ex-husband Ryan Phillippe was supportive, telling the New York Daily News, “I’m very happy for both Reese and Jim. I wish nothing but the best for the mother of my children.”

But some exes were not so full of goodwill. After denying rumors of a proposal for months, controversial couple LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian confirmed their engagement. And the actor’s ex-wife, Brandi Glanville — who was still married to him when he hooked up with the country singer — “couldn’t care less,” a source told Us magazine, adding that “now he’s LeAnn’s problem.”

In baby news, Elton John and partner David Furnish welcomed son Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John (via a surrogate) on Christmas Day. Also that day, Alanis Morissette and husband Mario “Souleye” Treadway welcomed son Ever Imre Morissette-Treadway.

And finally, two New Year’s Day weddings: Shania Twain and Frédéric Thiébaud in Puerto Rico, and Valerie Bertinelli and Tom Vitale in Malibu.
