When Sinead O’Connor wrote an open letter to Miley Cyrus last week exhorting her not to “be pimped” by the music biz, she probably didn’t expect a petulant Cyrus to go on Twitter and compare the Irish singer’s battles with mental illness to those of Amanda Bynes.
“You will yourself one day suffer such illness,” O’Connor shot back ominously in a second letter. “The course you have set yourself upon can only end in that, trust me.” She then threatened to sic her lawyers on Cyrus unless the insulting tweets were removed, according to Billboard.
As of Sunday evening the tweets were still up, along with some flippant additions from Cyrus inviting O’Connor to meet with her and talk just as soon as she finished hosting “SNL,” which passive-aggressively hinted, “I have a career, you don’t.” O’Connor then wrote a third open letter again demanding that Cyrus apologize to “all mental health sufferers.” But why should Miley apologize to her fans?
