As much of a tourist destination as Lake Tahoe is, the residents of the area also find time to have fun at a few gaming establishments. One of those is the Lakeside Inn and Casino — known as “the local’s place” — which for more than 20 years has been a South Shore staple.
“We are different than the big corporate casinos up the street in that we are locally owned and we appreciate that the locals support us here and we also are always welcoming visitors to the area who want to have a local experience,” Marketing Manager Pam Wheeler said.
Lakeside, which celebrated its 25th anniversary in May, offers its guests with a full array of games, including blackjack, craps, roulette and the latest slot machines. Also, Lakeside’s race and sports book is a prime place to catch games and watch the lines.
A live poker room is open every night with tournaments and live games. No-limit Texas Hold ’em poker tournaments are held daily starting at 6:45 p.m.
“People can find our tournament schedule at LakesideInn.com. We offer bounty tournaments, re-buy tournaments, and straight buy-in tourneys. The tournaments are fun for the experienced player and novice players,” Wheeler said.
If you are looking for a place to stay this spring or summer in Lake Tahoe, Lakeside offers 124 rooms, including parlor suites.
One unique offering is that the casino has traditional blackjack, which is often difficult to find at many casinos. If you get a blackjack with a $10 bet, it pays $15 on 3-2 odds.
After a long day of skiing the slopes, Lakeside offers several fine dining spots, including the Timber House Restaurant and Bar, which offers views of the Sierras and Mount Tallac. The restaurant has open beam wooden ceilings and classic Tahoe photographs.
The casino also offers the Latin Soul Restaurant with food derived from a variety of Latin cultures.
Just looking for a drink to end the day?
Check out the Tavern Bar, which is downstairs and sits between the Latin Soul restaurant and the race and sports book. It’s a popular spot for locals to hang out in and has numerous TVs showing the days sporting events. The Casino Bar is upstairs and located next to table games, slot machines and the Timber House restaurant.
