Jerry Lewis’ horrendous Holocaust movie leaked on YouTube

Ironic hipster film geeks everywhere are beside themselves with glee that someone has finally posted on YouTube a bit of The Holy Grail of Crap, Jerry Lewis’ ill-advised Holocaust movie called “The Day the Clown Cried.”

The 87-year-old comedian wrote, directed and starred in the monstrosity more than 40 years ago. The movie was so bad that it was never released. In it, Lewis plays a clown named Helmut Doork who entertains children on their way to the gas chambers by, well, presumably acting like Jerry Lewis in striped pajamas. Hey, what’s not to like?

The YouTube video has behind the scenes footage from the film and some outtakes, despite Lewis’ promise to the world that none of it would ever see the light of day. “I am embarrassed,” he said about the film at this year’s Cannes festival, according to Moviefone.
