Jay Z, Beyoncé taking heat for Cuba trip

Getty Images File PhotoJay Z and Beyoncé's recent trip to Cuba has ruffled some American feathers.

Jay Z and Beyoncé ruffled las plumas this week when they visited a Cuba, though the U.S. Treasury Department says that it OK’d the trip.

Some Republicans have cried foul, however, including prominent Cuban-American politicians from Florida who criticized the couple for their apparent insensitivity to the nation’s human rights record. Florida Sen. Marco Rubio tweeted on Monday, “If interested in what life really like in #Cuba @S_C_ sould have visited persecuted rapper #AngelYunierRemon #99problems&dictatorsareone.”

Though he’s getting ribbed for his play on Jay Z’s song “99 Problems,” the comment was actually sort of witty.

Jay Z and Beyoncé claimed their trip was a “people-to-people cultural visit,” which apparently means strolling up and down the streets of Havana and eating in restaurants. In other words, it was a vacation.
