Gwyneth Paltrow split not surprising

Gwyneth Paltrow’s announcement of her split with husband Chris Martin, which crashed her website Goop, wasn’t really breaking news — not, at least, to those who follow the smug Oscar winner.

The actress has been candid discussing marriage in the media. In an interview with Glamour U.K., she said, “It’s hard being married. … You go through great times, you go through terrible times.” And later she said, “When two people throw in the towel at the same time, then you break up, but if one person’s saying ‘Come on, we can do this,’ you carry on.”

In March, TMZ reported that Martin was ready to put down almost $4 million on a house in Brentwood where Coldplay could practice, hang out or record — but Paltrow apparently killed the deal.

Meanwhile, Paltrow, through her publicist, has denied online rumors that she had affairs with lawyer Kevin Yorn and Elle Macpherson’s billionaire husband Jeffrey Soffer.
