George Clooney gives fiancée 7-carat rock

People magazine has revealed the 7-carat diamond George Clooney gifted fiancee Amal Alamuddin, confirming for good that the engagement of Hollywood’s most notorious bachelor is real.

The human-rights lawyer and her accessory were photographed while she and Clooney dined with Cindy Crawford and husband Rande Gerber in Santa Monica five days after Clooney asked Alamuddin, 36, to marry him.

The Oscar winner apparently does more than make films. According to People, he helped design the “ethically mined” emerald-cut diamond, which is set in platinum. He reportedly proposed on bended knee in London.

E! Online says the couple’s announcement broke over the weekend after they were overheard sharing the news with pal Edward Norton while dining in Malibu. It comes seven months after they were first seen together.

The union will mark Clooney’s second marriage. The 52-year-old serial dater was married to actress Talia Balsam from 1989 to 1993.
