The onslaught of children’s fantasy films continues with “Nim’s Island,” a tale about young Nim (Abigail Breslin) who lives a Robinson Crusoe-like existence on a remote island with her scientist father (Gerald Butler). When her dad goes missing, Nim must use her imagination and the help of her favorite author (Jodie Foster) to combat an “invading force” on the island. While it’s not in the same league as “Narnia” or “Spiderwick Chronicles,” “Nim’s Island” is cute and emotional. Kids will love it, adults may be bored. Three featurettes, director audio commentary and cast commentary accompany the DVD. On Blu-ray, there are interactive games and a picture book as well. Price: $29.98 to $39.48. Rent or buy: Good kid rental.

GET SMART — SEASON ONE
The 1980s rehashed TV version of “Get Smart” came out a few weeks ago. Thankfully, HBO Home Video has released the far superior original starring Don Adams as Maxwell Smart and Barbara Feldon as Agent 99, who battle the forces of KAOS. With the success of the film of the same name, expect to see the complete catalog released onto DVD. This set has 30 episodes from the inaugural season. Unfortunately, there aren’t any extras. Still, it’s worthwhile for fans to pick up. Price: $24.98. Rent or buy: Buy.
ROUTE 66 — THE COMPLETE FIRST SEASON
Now you can get your kicks on “Route 66” on DVD — at least the first season’s worth. The 1960s drama about the ultimate road trip lasted four seasons and established the Corvette as an American icon. This set has 30 episodes on eight discs with a classic Corvette photo gallery and original commercials from the ‘60s included as special features. Price: $49.98. Rent or buy: Buy, if a fan.
SUNSET TAN — SEASON ONE
One of TV’s guilty pleasures is about a less-than-substantive business in Hollywood where everyone tries to get that signature bronze look. Oddly, this reality show about a tanning salon is actually mildly entertaining, particularly for those who enjoy “Girls Next Door” or “Real Housewives of the OC” and similar fluff. Price: $19.98. Rent or buy: Rent.
