Cranberries fans will be getting 'Roses' this Valentine's Day

Who wouldn’t want roses for Valentine’s Day, really? And that’s exactly what Celtic thrush Dolores O’Riordan will be presenting to fans of her famed Limerick ensemble The Cranberries this coming Feb. 14. An actual album called “Roses,” that is, which reunites her at long last with her old bandmates, Fergal Lawler and brothers Noel and Mike Hogan.

It will be the first new Cranberries studio set in over a decade, and it was produced by the brilliant Stephen Street. Why regroup now? It all happened by accident, really – O’Riordan was spending a lot of time in Canada, and busily pursuing a solo career when she phoned up the Hogans to help her play a few songs in 2009, when she received an honorary degree from Trinity College. It went so well that The Cranberries set out on a sprawling 107-date reunion tour in 2010, which finally culminated in then finally playing China earlier this year.

And “Roses” is no half-hearted rehash, O’Riordan maintains: “We had a blast in the studio, Stephen was in his zone and it came together rather quickly. There is a sense of rejuvenation in the group, a freshness.” The tracks are as follows: “Conduct,” “Tomorrow,” “Fire & Soul,” “Raining In my Heart,” “Losing My Mind,” “Schizophrenic Playboys,” “Waiting In Walthamstow,” “Show Me,” “Astral Projections,” “So Good,” and “Roses.” Help herald their return at www.cranberries.com.
