The Bay Area has inspired Chris Brown's belated New Year's resolution.

The R&B singer has ordered his manager to stop booking clubs that are “too hood,” TMZ reported Tuesday, just days after five people were shot at Brown's show in San Jose early Sunday morning.

Videos taken at San Jose's Fiesta club show Brown, 25, singing around 1:30 a.m. before suddenly shouting about a disturbance on the other side of the club. As gunshots ring out, Brown's entourage hustles him off the stage as the crowd scatters.

All five victims are expected to survive, The Associated Press reported. People were detained in the investigation, but no arrests have been made.

The video of Brown fleeing went viral and prompted jokes about the tough-guy image of the singer, who was charged with assaulting his then-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009 and has also been dogged by rumors of gang ties.

“This ain't no western. What idiot u know gonna stand there and get shot,” Brown lashed back on Instagram.

According to The San Jose Mercury News, Brown ended up playing at the Fiesta, normally reserved for Mexican banda music, only after the nearby RockBar Theater nixed the show amid security fears. After all, producer Suge Knight was at a party thrown by Brown when the 49-year-old producer got Swiss-cheesed by six bullets last summer.

Maybe it's not the venues that are Brown's problem.
