‘Avenue Q’ on its way

“Avenue Q” is coming to San Francisco. The hit musical — featuring people and puppets — will begin its national tour at the Orpheum Theatre (1192 Market St.), running Aug. 7 through Sept. 2.

The show, which opened on Broadway in July 2003 to popular and critical acclaim, is the eighth, and last, of the 2006-07 Best of Broadway season. It won three 2004 Tony Awards: Best Musical, Best Original Score of a Musical and Best Book of a Musical.

Tickets go on sale in June. For general information, visit www.shnsf.com. For information about group sales, call (415) 551-2020.
