The Hollywood Reporter is running a disturbing investigative piece on cruelty to animals in the film industry.
According to emails allegedly written by American Humane Association monitor Gina Johnson, the tiger used in some scenes in “The Life of Pi” nearly drowned.
“I think this goes without saying,” she wrote in an email obtained by the Reporter, “but don’t mention it to anyone, especially the office!”
The article also mentions that 27 animals allegedly died “from dehydration and exhaustion” during the filming of “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.”
The story – which calls into question the accuracy of the AHA’s “No animals were harmed” blurb that runs at the end of many films — could be explosive.FeaturesGossip
