And now, a few words from Liam Payne (on Twitter) clearing the air after a whirlwind recent few days for One Direction.

According to E! Online, the singer vented frustrations at an article by Jan Moir in the U.K. Daily Mail that slammed the band, saying the guys didn’t play or write the music they perform.

He shares, “Like so many writers before, consistently get things wrong looking down there noses thinking they are oh so right. Think you’ll find I’ve written a lot of the next album and songs on the last I play piano Niall [Horan] plays guitar that ok?”

He also apologized on behalf of his cohorts for a recent video showing Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson smoking pot: “I love my boys and maybe things have gone a little sideways I apologise for that. We are only in our 20’s we all do stupid things at this age.”
