SF fire boat capsizes in waters off Ocean Beach

A San Francisco fire boat capsized in the waters off Ocean Beach late Saturday morning, sending seven crew members into the waters.

The incident was reported at 11:15 a.m., fire officials posted to Twitter.

All seven members who were thrown overboard have been accounted for. Four members were hospitalized with minor injuries, according to fire spokesman John Baxter.

The U.S. Coast Guard and San Francisco Fire Department were investigating the incident.

The members were conducting a routine drill at the time, Baxter said.

The U.S. Coast Guard assisted with the rescue, according to USCG spokeswoman Lt. Leigh Van Lear.

Two members were rescued by good Samaritans, two other members were able to assist themselves and the three remaining members were rescued by the fire department, Van Lear said.

The boat had not been retrieved as of 6:20 p.m.
