Pepper-spraying crook robs clothing store

A crook pepper-sprayed a clerk in a high-end store near Union Square before fleeing with several handbags Wednesday, police said.

The blinding heist occurred in the 100 block of Geary Street around 11:45 a.m.

The crook, a black man in his late 30s, reportedly parked a silver Toyota in front of the store before entering and pepper-spraying the 27-year-old clerk in the eyes, police said.

He fled in the Toyota, which had temporary license plates, police said.

The victim received medical treatment at the scene.

No arrest has been made, police said. Other employees who witnessed the heist said the man was wearing a baseball cap, a hooded sweatshirt with a large design on the back, and dark jeans, police said.
