Zuckerberg, Chan announce Max’s little sis August

Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan announced the arrival of their baby, August, on Facebook on Monday.

It’s a girl.

As they did with their daughter Maxima Chan Zuckerberg, born in 2015, the power couple welcomed August to the world with a charming letter, but a bit different in tone.

Instead of talking about advancing human potential, promoting equality for all children, pledging to improve learning, curing disease and announcing a multi-billion dollar charity initiative, this time around the proud parents are focusing on fun.

They write: “It’s important to make time to go outside and play,” to “smell all the flowers and put all the leaves you want in your bucket now” and “read your favorite Dr. Seuss books so many times you start inventing your own stories.”

There was no mention of anything as mundane as the baby’s birth date or weight, or any comment about the origin of her name. (Time reports that the name, like Maxima, has Latin origins, and that in 2016, there were 222 female Augusts and 2,076 male Augusts born in the U.S.)

Earlier this month, Money reported Zuckerberg’s net worth at $73.1 billion, just $3 billion away from Warren Buffett, the fourth richest person in the world.

And although he has repeatedly said he has no immediate political ambitions, some of Zuckerberg’s recent hires have included Joel Benenson, an adviser to Barack Obama and strategist of Hillary Clinton’s campaign, Obama campaign manager David Plouffe, and former Virginia governor Tim Kaine’s communications adviser Amy Dudley, Vanity Fair reports.

OSTEEN ISN’T HELPING

Televangelist Joel Osteen canceled services at his Houston megachurch Sunday and has yet to reopen its doors — despite the fact that thousands of flooded-out residents are desperately seeking shelter.

The pastor told followers on Twitter on Monday to lean on their faith, Page Six reports.

“Jesus promises us peace that passes understanding,” he wrote.

But critics know why the doors to his 16,800-seat arena at his Lakewood Church near downtown Houston are closed.

“You have taken so much money away from your people to live like a king,” entertainment publicist Danny Deraney blasted. “It’s the least you could do.”
