Zaza Pachulia, David West expected to return from injury against Blazers

OAKLAND — Steve Kerr is planning to have Zaza Pachulia back in the starting five and to have David West available off the bench for the Golden State Warriors’ Saturday night meeting with the Portland Trail Blazers.

“They’re both probable and they’ll get out on the floor and warm up and we’ll see what happens,” Kerr said during his pregame press conference. “I’m expecting both of them to play.”

Pachulia has missed the Dubs’ past four games after sustaining a right wrist contusion against the Utah Jazz on Dec. 8. West left early in the fourth quarter of the Warriors’ Thursday night win over the New York Knicks with a hip contusion.

With Zaza sliding back into the lineup and West ready in reserve, Kerr planned to list Anderson Varejao and Damian Jones as inactive for the game against the Blazers.

The team recalled Jones from the D-League earlier in the day after he filled up the boxscore at Kaiser Permanente Area — the home of the Santa Cruz Warriors – on Friday night. In 34 minutes, the rookie went for 17 points (7-for-10 from the field), collected 9 boards and added a pair of blocks.

“I haven’t watched his minutes from last night, but I know he had a big night statistically,” Kerr said. “And it’s good to know that he’s getting his hands on the ball a little bit and getting a chance to score. I’ve got it on my computer and I’m planning to watch it tomorrow.”
