A San Francisco-based dog rescue organization is seeking the public's help in finding a missing 10-week-old pit bull mix puppy, said its director of administration.

Wonder Dog Rescue posted the plea for help on its Facebook page early Tuesday in hopes of finding Rex, a tan and white pit bull mix with bright blue eyes. Rex went missing from his foster home in the Fillmore Center apartments in the Western Addition on Friday night.

Pictures posted on the Facebook page show Rex at about seven weeks old, said Amanda Foulds, Wonder Dog's director of administration, and he may have grown a bit since then.

According to the Facebook post, the foster mother had a disagreement with Wonder Dog Rescue and threatened to take Rex to Animal Care and Control. Wonder Dog agreed to pick up Rex from Animal Care and Control and notified the shelter of the situation. However, Rex has not shown up at Animal Care and Control.

The foster mother said she dropped the dog off Saturday night and he is no longer in her care.

Police have been notified of the situation, but an official report has yet to be filed, Foulds said.

Foulds could not reveal the nature of the disagreement between Wonder Dog Rescue and the foster mother, but said the woman was a great foster mother for other dogs.

Wonder Dog Rescue is asking anyone who may know where Rex is to contact Foulds at (650) 454-9570.
