Woman robbed by bat-wielding assailants in the Richmond District

A 68-year-old woman was robbed of her purse in the Richmond District by two men armed with a bat at 9:35 a.m. on Friday.

The victim was reportedly walking near Second Avenue and Geary Boulevard with her purse slung over one shoulder when the suspects, two men estimated to be in their early 20s, approached her from behind and snagged the purse, causing the elderly woman to fall.

The men escaped on foot, while the woman sustained some injuries in the fall. Police were unable to comment on the victim’s condition.
