Wind advisories on Bay Area Bridges approach 24-hour mark

Trending Articles

Wind advisories have been in effect on most Bay Area bridges on and off for close to 24 hours, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

The advisories were issued at 7 p.m. Tuesday and, despite being intermittently lifted on some bridges, were in effect as of about 5:30 p.m. today, CHP Officer Ralph Caggiano said.

Motorists on the Bay Bridge, San Mateo-Hayward, Martinez-Benicia, Carquinez and Dumbarton bridges are advised to use caution and reduce speeds.

The advisories are expected to last at least into tonight, Caggiano said.

No major accidents have occurred on the bridges due to the weather since the advisory was put in place, the CHP said.
